Seattle Breast Lift – Where are the Scars?
Seattle Breast Lift (Mastopexy) – Where Are Scars for Breast Lift? Like a breast reduction, scars for a breast lift are hidden under a bikini or bra but where are they? It depends on the type of lift you need, says Dr. Haeck. The scar can be around the nipple or on the lower part of the breast. Dr. Haeck explains why.

I’m a board-certified plastic surgeon in Seattle, Washington and I work for the PolyClinic Plastic Surgery. Today I want to talk to you about breast lift also known as a mastopexy. So sometimes I get women who are confused about scars for a breast lift. They want to know, they’ve been to several different surgeons, they’ve had three or four different recommendations. The key is – how high do you want your breast to be? And the scarring, all the different issues, what type of a breast lift to have is going to be based on that. A plastic surgeon should really talk to you first about what is it you want? What do you want to get rid of? Scars can be subtle. Some of our breast lifts just involve a ring scar around the nipple itself. Repositioning the nipple and tightening the skin around it. Other scars can be just vertical, around the nipple, and down to the fold but no further out than that. All of that is a custom-applied approach between you and your plastic surgeon. So I do get women who come in and say “I am totally confused. I can’t figure out what I want to do”. The key is what can you live with afterwards? I’ll see women who say “No scars other than around the nipple”. I’ll tell them, you’re not going to have as much lift that way, may be, but that’s for you – the right approach – I’ll do it.
